Chinas 200 million-man Army

Are we nearing the Sixth Trumpet of Revelation 9?

By Ken Raggio

chinaarmy.jpg (11681 bytes)In Revelation 9:16, John saw the largest army ever assembled.

He said, "I heard the number of them." That number was two hundred million.

The occasion is the sixth trumpet of the endtime.

The event is a horrible calamity that would kill fully one-third of the earth - almost two BILLION people!

This incomprehensible battle would start with the loosing of four angels in the region of the Euphrates River.

The Euphrates flows through the territories of Turkey, Syria, Iraq. These are certainly volatile areas for military conflict.

It might be implied that the regime of Saddam Hussein could actually become a part of this final showdown with China.

Euphrates.gif (7782 bytes)Recent news indicates that China's need for oil is growing at a staggering pace, and the Middle East may be where she gets it, perhaps even by force. The Euphrates area is fabulously oil-rich.

Chairman Mao boasted in the 1960s of an army of two hundred million men.

Bible students have for decades suspected that the two hundred million  man army would undoubtedly be from China.

No other nation on earth could accomplish that feat. The link between Chinas soldiers and the powers from the Euphrates region poses an interesting subject for speculation.

What could precipitate a battle of such magnitude?

What possible motives could China have for raising up its 200,000,000 soldiers and sending them out to battle?

Todays sophisticated weaponry of jets, missiles, tanks, plus high-tech warfare tools as spy satellites, reconnaissance planes, aircraft carriers, and more, hardly leaves any place for conventional ground warfare of this magnitude.

China is historically aggressive.

China has already demonstrated to the world its eagerness to act swiftly in matters pertaining to political upheavals among its neighbors.

Chinamap.gif (40953 bytes)Hong Kong, Taiwan, Tibet, Korea, Cambodia, Vietnam, have all felt Beijing breathing down their necks over the years.

China strongly desires to maintain and expand dominance in the Asian community.

The Gulf War, however, taught them a painful lesson about what happens when modern warfare is waged against outdated weaponry such as theirs.

China has conducted Nuclear Testing more recently than the other superpowers, and is anxious to flex its muscles to assert its presence in the region.

They conducted intimidating military exercises against Hong Kong during its transition from British rule to Chinese.

New threats are developing in the region.

In November, 1997, unexpected election results in Taiwan raised the possibility of an international crisis.

The old communist KMT government was suddenly unseated by the Democratic Progressive Party, and the consensus was boiling to declare independence from Beijing.

Eight of Washingtons elite military and diplomatic personalities were rushed to the region to try to diffuse any potential flare-up of tensions from Beijing.

Obviously, the risk of serious trouble was running pretty high, and may still be.

Nuclear Powers in India and Pakistan

In the summer of 1998, both India and Pakistan conducted Nuclear testing in their countries.

No one knows for sure all their motives, but one of the distinct possibilities is that they are building a defense against CHINA!

China, in July, 1998, deployed six new ICBMs, loaded with nuclear warheads. That adds to 14 others that were already deployed. While the United States is certainly one of their perceived enemies, no one can deny that the entire Asian region is a hotbed of potential conflict.

Could it be that there is a new Cold War emerging between CHINA, PAKISTAN, and INDIA?

Most alarming, is the possibility that a Nuclear showdown between these nations could EASILY KILL ONE-THIRD of humanity. There are 2.68 BILLION people living in the region.

That could become a fulfillment of the prophecy of Revelation 9:15, "And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men." The very next verse introduces the 200,000,000 man army (China).

Many Asian leaders hold the view that the United States must remain politically, economically, and militarily engaged in the Asian-Pacific to ensure stability.

Others believe, however, that the US will ultimately withdraw, leading to regional instability. Consequently, many countries are attempting to forge new ties with the United States.

New leaders now in power demonstrate
"New World Order" connections.

ZhuRongi.gif (14029 bytes)Meanwhile, China has a new Premier.

Zhu Rongi, Chinas reformist tsar, was elected in March with a mandate to save the nation's industry and banks from collapse.

Zhu's strategy includes reorganizing the central bank along the lines of the U.S. Federal Reserve.

Students of prophecy will recognize the connection with behind-the-scenes international banking forces. This suggests that China is moving toward compliance with New World Order operatives (i.e., Big Brother).

unsecuritycouncil.gif (55151 bytes)If China finally aligns itself more favorably with the international community, it could become increasingly active in the UN Security Council (photo), and ultimately take the UN side in a Middle East showdown.

As long as China holds its seat there, its power can should never be underestimated!

With the worlds largest conventional, low-tech army, China could activate a Middle East confrontation on behalf of the United Nations that might be envisioned as unstoppable.

Only God knows the potential holocausts that could ensue as Saddam Hussein whips out his weapons of mass destruction, and full-scale nuclear war breaks out.

Revelation 9:17 says, "And thus I saw the horses in the vision, and them that sat on them, having breastplates of fire, and of jacinth, and brimstone: and the heads of the horses were as the heads of lions; and out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone."

The COLOR of these breastplates was 1.Fire, 2. Jacinth, 3. Brimstone. Numerous Bible commentaries transpose these to be the colors. RED, BLUE, and YELLOW.

Do these colors reveal the powers behind the red army?

Any seasoned student of prophecy is aware of the behind-the-scenes powers of the super-rich, especially the Rothschilds and Rockefellers.

They are the principle forces behind the New World Order. The name Rothschild means Red Shield. The shield and colors of the Rothschild family on their coat of arms is blue (hyacinth) and yellow. Was John telling us that the 200 million Chinese soldiers would be marching under the Rothschild colors or New World Order instructions?

Can it be that the secretive New World Order will use these primitive conventional means of warfare to attempt to crush the Middle East.

Additional support for that theory comes from the fact that China has recently installed a new leader, and his first order of business was to overhaul the Central Bank.

The Central Bank is Big Brothers number one power tool over any government.

That indicates the increasing control of the New World Order gang, even inside the Great Wall.

It is going to be very interesting, to say the least, at how these scenarios actually unfold.

Revelation 9:14 speaks of four spirits being loosed in the area of the Euphrates River, which runs through Iraq, (especially Baghdad and Babylon)

In verse 15, "And the four angels were loosed, which were prepared for an hour, and a day, and a month, and a year, for to slay the third part of men."

The very next verse introduces the 200,000,000 man army (China).

As China's economy nosedives (as it is currently doing), and the Chinese need for oil increases (over 90 million barrels per day), China may decide that it needs to make an aggressive move into the Middle East to take oil.

While this is only one of many potential scenarios that might unfold, the sober facts of biblical prophecy demands that these players are destined for the worst armed conflict of all world history.

Clinton's Sell-Out of America

Christopher Ruddy, March 10, 1999

It seems incredible, but it's true: Clinton has released classified missile technology to China after receiving political contributions from the communist Chinese ... he has allowed China to take control of port cities on both ends of the strategically-vital Panama Canal ... and Clinton has allowed the Russians and Chinese access to sensitive missile bases, command centers, and shipyards.

Here are the shocking facts:

When I was in Long Beach a few years ago, local papers were filled with stories of leasing huge military facilities to the Communist Chinese. Here's how the deal was structured:

COSCO -- the Chinese Overseas Shipping Company, a subsidiary of China's People's Liberation Army -- would be allowed to lease the navy shipyards in Long Beach, California for 16 annual payments of $14.5 million a year (total: $232 million). The deal would also have required the Port of Long Beach to spend $235 million to modernize the facilities. In other words, the PLA would have been handed former US naval facilities in Long Beach at a cut-rate cost while taxpayers forked over $235 million to upgrade the facility for the Chinese.

Under a Department of Transportation subsidy program, US taxpayers would have also subsidized 87% of the $157 million cost of COSCO building four new container ships.

What do the Communist Chinese plan to do with the facilities and ships?

Here's one example:

In 1996, soon after Clinton had signed a law outlawing importing foreign semi-automatic weapons into the US, he signed a waiver allowing the Chinese Overseas Shipping Co. -- COSCO (a subsidiary of the Red Army) -- to allow them to import 100,000 semi-automatic military rifles into the US, as well as millions of rounds of ammunition. Not content to just bring in semi-automatic weapons, COSCO also tried to smuggle in 2,000 illegal, fully automatic Chinese AK-47s. According to press reports, these weapons were destined to be sold to street gangs in Oakland. That seems like a phony cover story. We still need to know why China tried to smuggle into California enough weapons to equip an army.

On May 13, 1997, Defense Secretary Cohen signed a military cooperation agreement with Russia. Under the agreement, US and Russian forces would work together on over 100 exercises in 1997 alone. These exercises include joint troop movements, "urban pacification," and US advice for Russian forces killing rebels in Chechnya.

After signing the cooperation agreement, Russian Defense Minister Igor Rodionov toured the National Military Command Center and met with the Joint Chiefs of Staff in secret.

In January 1998, Secretary Cohen also signed an agreement to allow cooperation between the US and Chinese militaries.

Under the Open Skies Treaty, Russian military planes began flying over and photographing US military bases last year. Chinese military aircraft will be allowed to fly over US military bases beginning in 1999. Information Russia and China obtain from these flyovers would be invaluable if they ever attack the US.

The Panama Canal is probably the single most strategically-important piece of real estate in the Western Hemisphere. The US has fought two wars -- in which thousands of Panamanians and hundreds of Americas have died -- to control the Canal. Now it's being handed to the Communist Chinese on a silver platter.

President Clinton has allowed a company controlled by Chinese communists -- Hutchinson-Whampoa Ltd. -- to take control of the Canal cities at both ends of the Canal. Further, under Panamanian Law #5, Hutchinson-Whampoa will determine which ships are allowed to enter the Canal and many of the Canal's operations. This is utterly absurd and frightening.

Admiral Thomas Moorer, former Chairman of the Joint Chiefs, reminded Congress last summer that "the defense and use of the Panama Canal is wrapped inextricably with the overall global strategy of the United States and the security of the free world."

Moorer vehemently opposed the turnover of the canal to the Chinese, saying it was vital for US oil supplies, and for the transit for US ships and troops in a war, and described the Canal as "essential" in any "military conflict -- past, present, or future."

On March 23, 1998, The Washington Times revealed a secret Clinton Administration proposal to sell advanced missile technology to China.

Under Clinton, 47 supercomputers have been sold to China, most for use by the Red Army -- the butchers of Tibet and Tiananmen Square. These US computers can be used to target nuclear missiles at America and to build design new and more powerful nuclear weapons.

Part 3: Russia and China -- Our Friends?

China's Rapidly Growing Threat To World Security

By Jess Miller 4-23-1

Strategic Infrastructure Plan Precedes Military Option

China has a population in excess of 1.2 billion.

China is a Communist dictatorship.

China is an atomic super power.

China has a large arsenal of short and medium range missiles and is thought to now have accurate long range missile capability.

China is rapidly building the world's largest navy and is ever increasing its airpower.

China has the world's largest army at over 3 million strong.

The Peoples Liberation Army (PLA) directly controls and supervises more than 15,000 business and 50,000 factories. These businesses are of a widely varying nature within both the civilian and military spheres. The PLA even trades stock in financial centers.

Thousands of PLA products fill the shelves of U.S. stores.  "I have a continuing sense of awe at the scale of this. They are now running a multibillion dollar conglomerate." - James Mulvenon, RAND Corporation.

Many U.S. Companies do business with the PLA, an army that invaded Tibet, kills students and maintains the denial of basic freedoms to Chinese citizens.

According to the Institute for Strategic Affairs in London the PLA earns $25 billion a year from its businesses.

Profits go back into feeding troops, modernizing aggressive military capabilities and strengthening ambitions for regional and world supremacy.

On July 17th 1998 the emerging "strategic partnership" between the U.S. and Red China escalated significantly when it was revealed that members of the elite U.S. Special Forces would train soldiers from the PLA.

China will soon have the world's second largest economy.

China dominates the economies of Malaysia, Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand and the Philippines and runs the economies of Singapore and Hong Kong.

China disputes the following boundaries: The boundary with India; sections of the boundary with Russia; the boundary with Tajikistan; a section of the boundary with North Korea; involved in a complex dispute over the Spratly Islands with Malaysia,Philippines, Taiwan, Vietnam, and Brunei; maritime boundary dispute with Vietnam in the Gulf of Tonkin; Paracel Islands occupied by China, but claimed by Vietnam and Taiwan; claims Japanese-administered Senkaku Islands, as does Taiwan.

In late 1999 China completed its Muglad oilfield project in the Sudan. The Chinese have built a 940 mile pipeline from Heglid in Southern Sudan to the Port of Sudan, centrally situated on the Red Sea's western coast opposite Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, in what has been China's largest overseas operation by the China National Petroleum Corporation.

Chinese investment in the Sudan is now well over US $2 billion.

In late 2000 the UK's Daily Telegraph reported that China had put 700,000 troops in the Sudan on alert and was preparing to enter that country's civil war.

The U.S. State Department denied that China had such troop levels in Sudan 'otherwise we'd have known about it'. However the Chinese troops entering Sudan went undetected by other nations. Only the number of these forces is disputed, but aid workers have confirmed the levels of Chinese in the Sudan to be in the 'tens upon tens of thousands'.

This large Chinese presence midway between the Horn of Africa and Suez could become a threat to Saudi Arabia (world oil supply), the Red Sea and the Suez Canal (through which 6% of world shipping, up to 25,000 vessels a year, passes) and to Israel.

The sudden use of Chinese 'workers' as a trained military force does not bode well for current Chinese operations underway in Panama and the Caribbean, where a large influx of Chinese illegals is occurring.

Whilst the US and NATO were busy in Yugoslavia, China was cementing relations with Cuba and is now financing and modernising Cuba's telecommunications and electronics industry.

Chinese President Jiang Zemin met with Cuban President Fidel Castro 13th April 2001 and signed contracts for US$400 million of business.

In addition to the telephone system and electronics the agreements cover sports, educational exchange, maritime relations, a fiscal agreement to avoid double taxation, economic and technical exchanges, a bank credit for a hotel now being built in downtown Havana and a US$150 million credit for the purchase of Chinese television sets.

During Jiang's visit a high level American trade delegation left Cuba empty handed.

China's Defense Minister visited Cuba over one year ago.

China already has a techno-spy base and communication bases in Cuba and is building intelligence facilities at Torrens/Lourdes adjacent to a massive Russian facility already in operation.

It has been reported that the Lourdes facility is the largest such complex operated by the Russian Federation and its intelligence service outside the region of the former Soviet Union. The Lourdes facility is reported to cover a 28 square-mile area with some 1,500 Russian engineers, technicians, and military personnel working at the base.

Experts familiar with the Lourdes facility have reportedly confirmed that the base has multiple groups of tracking dishes and its own satellite system, with some groups used to intercept telephone calls, faxes, and computer communications in general, and other groups used to cover targeted telephones and devices.

The Lourdes facility also monitors the U.S. Atlantic fleet and elements of U.S. Pacific fleet operations as well as domestic, commercial and military communications throughout the Americas.

The Cuban Missile Crisis between Russia and America in October 1962 successfully stopped Russia from installing strategic missiles on Cuba.

Today China has a strong presence within Cuba and could position strategic missiles on the island relatively easily.

Nothing has been done to address this potentially dangerous situation of cities throughout North America becoming targeted by missiles to be launched out of Cuba.

During Jiang's April 2001 Latin American tour he met with Communist allies in Venezuela, paid visits to Chile, Argentina, and Uruguay, and addressed a meeting of the UN's Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean.

Venezuela is under the revolutionary rule of self-described Maoist Hugo Chavez.  "I have been very Maoist all my life," said Chavez during an October 1999 visit to Beijing.

China is active within Venezuela in gas, oil, agriculture, mining and the national railroad plan.

In late January 2001 Colombian President Andres Pastrana sent his Chief of Staff to Beijing to ask China for help in developing agricultural programs in Colombia.

Asked if he was concerned about this development, U.S. Secretary of State for Defense Colin Powell replied: "I don't know why it would trouble me, especially if the Chinese have something to contribute. President Pastran a is free to seek advice where he finds it more useful."

Beijing has allied itself with the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), which receives backing from Russia, Cuba and Iran and supports China's plans to conquer the free Chinese on Taiwan.

The Panama Canal is 900 miles from the U.S.

The Panama Canal controls at least one third of world shipping and is vital to American trade and defense capabilities as well as being an economic and logistical bridgehead between North and South America.

Some 20% of total US imports and exports pass through the Canal including around 40% of all grain exports.

Panama is a vulnerable front-line state against the spread of narcotics and terrorism that plague its South American neighbors. When the U.S. pulled out of Panama at the end of 1999 the U.S. counter-narcotics centre at Howard Air Base was closed.

Panama is now the central base of Communist Chinese operations in Latin America and the Pacific Ocean port of Balboa is a vital component to the emerging Chinese strategy of dominating the Pacific and undermining and isolating the United States.

A Chinese corporation, Great Wall of Panama, has a 60 year lease for an export zone on the Atlantic end of the canal.

Hutchison Whampoa, the Hong Kong based multinational conglomerate with a market capitalization of US$53 billion and almost 100,000 employees worldwide has spent more than US$100 million to modernize its two ports, Cristob al on the Atlantic and Balboa on the Pacific ends of the Panama Canal. These are now run by Communist Chinese allies.

Hutchison Whampoa operates five core business in 28 countries: ports and related services, telecommunications and e-commerce, property and hotels, retail and manufacturing and energy and infrastructure.

Hutchison is 10% owned by China Resources Enterprises (CRE) and has been identified by the U.S. Senate as a front for Chinese military intelligence.

CRE was identified by the U.S. Senate Government Affairs Committee as a conduit for 'espionage - economic, political and military - for China.'

Hutchison has joint venture terminal operations in Mainland China, the Bahamas,Panama, Myanmar, Indonesia and Malaysia.

Under controversial Panamanian Law Number 5, that was secretly implemented by the Balladarcs regime, the Hutchison Whampoa company has the right of first refusal on other Canal facilities, including former strategic facilities, which include former U.S. bases, such as the Rodman Naval Station port.

Some of the measures harmful to U.S. security and economic interests under Law Number 5, include:

Article 2.1 grants Hutchison Whampoa first option to take over the ports at Rodman Naval Station meaning that U.S. warships could be shut out.

Article 2.8 authorizes Hutchison Whampoa to transfer contract rights to any third party registered in Panama. This third party could be Cuba, Iraq, Iran or Libya or any other country which is hostile to the United States.

Hutchison can extend its leases until 2047.

Article 2.12a, grants Hutchison Whampoa priority to all piers, including private piers, at Balboa and Cristobal, plus an operating area at Albrook Air Force Station.

Article 2. 12i, guarantees Hutchison Whampoa the right to designate their own canal pilots, change the rules for boarding vessels and add additional pilots - if clients claim dissatisfaction.

Secretary of State Colin Powell, a member of the Council on Foreign Relations, stated on February 6th 2001 "I have not found that the so-called Chinese presence in the form of shipping companies and the like have created any danger to the Panamanian people, the Panamanian government, or to the canal itself. Our interests are served." [Makes one wonder whom he means by 'Our.']

During his presidency Bill Clinton admitted that China would control the Panama Canal after December 31, 1999. "I think the Chinese will, in fact, be bending over backwards to make sure they run the Canal in a competent and fair manner. I think they'll want to demonstrate to a distant part of the world that they can be a responsible partner, and I would be very surprised if any adverse consequences flowed from the Chinese running the Cana l."

During his presidency Mr.Clinton did more than anyone to accommodate Communist China's requirements.

Hutchison Whampoa is part of the Li Ka Shing group of companies, owner Li Ka Shing having close ties to the Chinese government. He is a board member of the Chinese government's main investment arm, the China International Trust and Investment Corporation (CITIC), run by the PLA arms dealer and smuggler Wang Jun.

CITIC is the bank of the PLA and finances Chinese army weapons sales and the purchase of Western Technology.

Wang Jun is also the head of China's Polytechnologies Company, the international outlet for Chinese weapons sales.

China and Russia's strategic alliance is posing an ever increasing threat to the U.S. and NATO. Panama now hosts a highly dangerous mix of well-financed Chinese and Russian organised crime mobs along with Cuban government operatives, drug lords and narco-terrorist militants, who threaten the democracy of Panama and neighboring countries and are a direct long-term threat to Mexico and the United States.

There is an ongoing massive smuggling operation of illegal aliens from China into Panama by Chinese Triad gangs on China Overseas Trading Company (COSCO) shipping.

In the Bahamas Hutchison Whampoa has dredged and expanded the port at Freetown on the island of Grand Bahama, 60 miles from Florida, enabling it to handle the largest container ships in the world. Hutchison is building a massive naval facility there.

Many Chinese officials as well as the Cuban ambassador have visited the Freetown port.

Hutchison has a 50% stake in the Grand Bahama Airport Company, which owns one of the world's longest airport runways at more than 11,000 feet, capable of handling the world's largest aircraft.

The Canadian government has allowed China's state-owned China Overseas Trading Company (COSCO) to make Vancouver the gateway for its operations in North America against intelligence advice.

U.S. Senate and Canadian intelligence have described COSCO as the "merchant marine" for China's military. COSCO vessels have been apprehended carrying assault rifles into California and missile technology and biological-chemical weapons components into North Korea, Iraq, Iran and Pakistan.

COSCO ships have been used by the Chinese government to ship missiles, jet fighters and components of weapons of mass destruction to nations such as North Korea, Libya, Iraq, Iran and Pakistan.

COSCO has been seeking to take over former naval facilities in Southern California at Long Beach.

COSCO has over 600 merchant ships in its fleet, which makes it larger than the U.S. merchant marine during World War II and the PLA's literature refers to COSCO vessels as zhanjian, or 'warships'.

COSCO'S merchant fleet is currently being refitted for military troop transportation.

Al Santoli, an aide to Republican Representative Dana Rohrabacher of California, says that China is positioning itself commercially and militarily along key naval 'choke points'. [Choke points that were once under the control of either the USA or Britain]. Santoli has been monitoring Chinese mariti me activity from the Philippines to Panama. The Chinese are building military bases and expanding Chinese illegals on a massive scale at these choke points which include:

Burma (access to the Indian Ocean)

Hong Kong (to control the South China Sea)

The Straits of Malacca (where China has ties with Cambodia and is building a naval facility and fortifications on the Philippines-claimed Spratly Islands.  An average of 150 ships pass through these straits daily)

The Central Pacific (a major land satellite tracking station on Tarawa)

Hawaii (a major ocean mining tract)

The Caribbean (the Bahamas naval facility and growing relationship with Cuba)

Cuba (where, amongst other activities, the Chinese are building communications intelligence facilities adjacent to Russia's huge technical spy center at Torrens/Lourdes.)

Panama (eventual control of the Panama Canal)

Sudan (to control the Red Sea, Suez Canal and possibly threaten Saudi Arabia and Israel).

The United States is expecting a possible confrontation with China over Chinese expansionism in the South China Sea, including its occupation of the disputed Spratly islands, close to the Philippines.

Hong Kong's Cheng Ming newspaper quoted Chinese Defence Minister Chi Haotian as saying war with the United States is inevitable.  "Seen from the changes in the world situation and the United States' hegemonic strategy for creating monopolarity, war is inevitable," Mr. Chi told a military conference in early December 1999.

"We cannot avoid it," he was quoted in the newspaper as saying. "The issue is that the Chinese armed forces must control the initiative in this war. . . . We must be prepared to fight for one year, two years, three years or even longer."

Admiral Thomas H. Moorer, former chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff and the highest ranking military officer in the U.S. has concluded that China is planning on a major war with the U.S. within the next two years.

Admiral Moorer believes a conflict with China over Taiwan is inevitable and that such a war is likely to lead to the use of atomic weapons by both sides.

He has stated that China's new bases in Panama and Cuba will allow them to covertly strike every U.S. city with atomic weapons delivered by their large arsenal of short and medium range missiles.

Moorer warns that the new nexus between China and Russia now threatens the balance of world power and fears therefore that one or more serious conflicts may face America in the next few years.

As if to perversely reinforce Admiral Moorer's point about China and Russia's alliance being a threat to the United States the U.S. State Department in recent years has ceded several U.S. islands in the Arctic and Bering Sea to Russia without congressional approval or public debate.

These islands are significant because they hold potential mineral, gas, oil and fishing rights - not to mention possible strategic military value and have been part of America since the United States purchased Alaska from Russia in 1867.

The Arctic islands, which lie west of Alaska and north of Siberia, include the islands of Wrangell, Herald, Bennett, Jeannette and Henrietta.

The islands in the Bering Sea make up the westernmost point in Alaska's Aleutian chain and include Copper Island, Sea Otter Rock and Sea Lion Rock. These islands together have a square mileage more than that of some U.S. States.

The U.S. Census Bureau's director, Kenneth Prewitt has said, "Census Bureau officials were informed by the U.S. Department of State that these islands remain under the jurisdiction of Russia. Without confirmation and appropriate documentation from the Department of State to the contrary, the Census Bureau cannot include these islands as part of the State of Alaska."  The islands may already be hosts to Russian military tracking and listening facilities.  The shortest distance between the U.S. mainland and Asia is the polar route.  Asia includes China.

A senior Russian transportation official, Viktor Razbegin, was quoted in the London Times in early January as saying a railway tunnel will be built under the Bering Straits connecting Alaska to the Russian Far East. The project, estimated to cost $60 billion, has been talked about for years, but many consider it unrealistic. Such a tunnel would provide an access point for covertly infiltrating illegal aliens and/or military forces into North America.

Even the possibility of a 55 mile 'Peace Bridge' joining Siberia and Alaska has been aired.

In a 1988 report to the Senate Committee on Governmental Affairs, after a 21 month investigation, the United States General Accounting Office (GAO) revealed an appalling lack of security at the three main U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) weapons laboratories: Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, California; Los Alamos National Laboratory, New Mexico; and Sandia National Laboratories, New Mexico.

The GAO study concluded: "During the 21-month period from January 1986 through September 1987, about 6,700 foreign nationals visited or were assigned to one of these laboratories. About 900 of the visitors were from Communist or other sensitive countries, including those suspected of developing nuclear weapons, such as India,Israel, and Pakistan."

The DOE attempted to downplay the seriousness of its abysmal security record by asserting that the visitors from Communist countries did not participate in any 'sensitive' projects - an assertion not supported by the GAO report, which said:

"We found that foreign visitors from Communist and other sensitive nations have been involved in activities that have been identified as sensitive by DOE's own criteria, such as lasers, nuclear physics, and particle beams that could assist countries to develop and produce nuclear weapons. Information on classified programs could be derived from available unclassified data or by observing activities at these facilities."

As bad as the situation was at that time, security under the new Clinton regime became a lot worse.

The Wall Street Journal reported that in 1993, "The Clinton Department of Energy actually widened the loophole, waiving rules requiring background checks on many visitors from countries known to be involved in nuclear weapons programs. The laboratories said that the stream of foreign scientists, especially from China, put too much of a burden on security officials. The Clinton waivers produced a surge of unchecked visitors at the Los Alamos lab and at the Sandia National Laboratory. In the late 1980s there were 67 visitors from China at the three weapons labs, which included Livermore National Laboratory in California. Now there are almost 500, or almost one-third of all foreign scientists."

The United States faces a growing threat from Chinese organized crime groups that are using Canada as a base from which to conduct criminal activities.

Members of ethnic Chinese criminal groups from China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, and Macao have exploited Ottawa's immigration policies and entrepreneur program to enter the country and become Canadian residents, making it easier for them to cross into the United States. Canada has become a gateway for Chinese criminal activity directed at the United States, particularly heroin trafficking, credit card fraud, and software piracy.

The fact that COSCO has made Vancouver its gateway for operations into North America can only aggravate the situation.

South Africa could soon play a significant strategic role in the world.

At this time being heavily depopulated by AIDS and with a virtually bankrupt government, South Africa is strengthening ties made by the African National Congress (ANC) before coming to power in 1994 with various 'non-aligned' countries, including Libya and China.

Recently South African president Thabo Mbeki visited Saudi Arabia and Cuba.

Saudi Arabia was visited to negotiate oil supplies and financial assistance.

Cuba was visited to make arrangements for Cuban teachers, doctors and nurses and others trained in critical civilian infrastructure areas to be brought into South Africa to fill the increasing gaps made by AIDS deaths, which South Africa cannot fill.

Cuban teachers were cleared to work in South Africa on the 20th April 2001 as 'a mark of respect for the contribution by Cuban revolutionaries to the ANC's struggle for power'.

During 2000 the ANC government, that claims to have little or no money to help HIV/AIDS sufferers, signed a 40 billion Rand (US$5 billion) arms deal with Europe that some forecasters estimate could escalate to 60 billion Rand (US$7.5 billion) in the final analysis.

The deal, corruption within which is being investigated at high level, is for the purchase of corvettes, submarines, helicopters and jet fighters.

How South Africa will be able to afford this arms purchase is unclear.

Precisely who is going to fly or operate this military hardware in the face of the AIDS decimation within the South African armed forces is unclear, or why this escalation of military capability might be necessary.

South Africa may well have to look to another country to provide the trained manpower to operate the hardware being purchased.

'Secret' talks are underway between South Africa and China. The Chinese are keen to get into South Africa and if their future world plans included shutting down the Suez Canal at some stage, by whatever means, then the South African Cape would immediately take on extreme strategic importance.

Were the Chinese to have moved into South Africa in force by that time, their powerful navy would be in a position to put pressure on world shipping which would once again have to go around the South African Cape, as in pre-Suez canal days.

With their presence in South America burgeoning China's naval capability may soon have the ability to 'police' the other Cape of significance, Cape Horn, adding even more control to any pressure applied to shipping passing through the Panama canal.

China is moving rapidly to complete worldwide infrastructure to handle the movement of all kinds of civilian and military cargoes, both legal and illegal.

This infrastructure uses key 'choke points' that could be used for threatening other countries economically or militarily, or that could be used to launch combined military aggression from any number of strategic strong-holds.

China has infiltrated America's backyard (Panama/Cuba), where it is establishing ports and may soon have airbases.

China has the capability to launch short or medium range missiles targeted at the United States from Panama or Cuba and may also have long range capability.

China could potentially hold US shipping to ransom on passage through the Panama canal.  Having to round Cape Horn would put 8,000 miles on the journey from the East to West coasts for U.S. shipping.

China is present in strength in Sudan, from where it could threaten the region and world shipping by 'choking' the Red Sea or Suez Canal and bringing the South African Cape into play.

In coercion with Russia, China will shortly have the ability to launch an attack on North America from both within (existing infiltration) and from outside the continent.

China may commence such a scenario with planned military diversions, such as in Taiwan and the Middle East, that would require the deployment of a large percentage of U.S. forces to those regions. At that time such an attack as outlined upon the U.S. could have a devastating and extremely swift result - the consummate defeat of the United States.

China's most favoured option in an attack upon the U.S. would be to use biological/chemical weaponry.  The simultaneous release of a virulent biological agent at hundreds of key points throughout the U.S., subway systems, air ducts of crucial buildings, sporting events, rush hour traffic and upwind of selected military bases, coupled to missile delivery, would result in chaos.

The objective of such an attack would be the immediate reduction of all armed forces stationed within North America, the National Guard, police forces, militias and the civilian population by well in excess of 50%, thereby destroying all resistance infrastructure.

By utilizing a relatively fast clearing biological the U.S. would then be laid open to Russian and Chinese armed forces landing from Panama, Cuba, Bahamas, Eastern Siberia via Alaska and via COSCO shipping at multiple beach heads and devastated US ports as well as by thousands of infiltrators, 'sleepers' already within the U.S.

Even without using atomic weaponry, which would render vast tracts of America useless for the future and result in catastrophic retaliation against the Chinese mainland, China has the missile capability to deliver biological/chemical weapons into every American city and the U.S. has no defense against a multiple launch out of Panama/Cuba.

Whilst China builds the infrastructure needed to create such a military option, or a variant of it, America and the Western World seem to be deaf to the warnings of respected experts like Al Santoli and Admiral Moorer and are simply letting the Chinese Communist Dictatorship carry forward its plans without so much as lifting a finger.

China and the Kings of the East

by Dr. N. W. Hutchings

Members of Congress and the citizens of the United States in general were terribly offended and even angry when one of our intelligence gathering aircraft was forced down in China and the crew held for almost two weeks. The plane was evidently and legally according to international law, outside of Chinese borders, and the collision with the Chinese military aircraft was probably the fighter pilot's fault. Therefore, why would the Chinese government dare to challenge the military and economic power of the United States?

We expect Spaniards to act like Spaniards; Italians to act like Italians; Arabians to act like Arabians, but we were surprised when the Chinese acted like Chinese. China and Egypt had advanced civilizations and cultures dating back 4,500 years over 4,200 years before the United States became a nation. The Chinese have never been aggressive conquerors of other nations or people; but they have a history of being extremely aggressive in defense of their country and the imperial control of Chinese territory and peoples. The annexing of Tibet, the military campaigns against India in the 1970s, and intervention in the Korean war in the 1950s, were further manifestations of the Great Wall syndrome dating to 200 B.C. I remarked during my first visit to China that if you stuck a 2 x 4 in the ground, the next morning there would be a wall around it.

China has a population of 1.3 billion. The United States has a population of 281 million. China could field an army larger than the U.S. population. When I went to China in 1980 the country was a dismal, foreboding disaster: very few new buildings most were of last century vintage. The air was thick with coal smoke; streets were crowded with bicycles, everyone wore blue or green Mao clothing because it was against the law to wear colors; dilapidated hotel accommodations; and the food was inedible. But as I attended one of the first services after the Cultural Revolution in the Mo'en Peoples Church of Shanghai, I hoped that this signaled a new day of freedom in China.

The status of the church and/or Christian missions in China is directly related to the political and economic past.

While Restrain Christianity did make a presence in Ian, and possibly other areas of southwest China in the eighth century, Christianity was considered a foreign religion, suffered persecution, and vanished.

Going back into history four thousand years, we find that China was ruled by emperors in succeeding dynasties. To name just a few of these dynasties: Song, Tang, Qing, Ming, Zhou, etc. Emperors ruled by provincial, city, or war lord alliances.

In the nineteenth century the Roman Colonial powers of Europe, plus the United States, discovered China to be a land of golden commercial opportunity. Commercial land holdings and enclaves were established on the mainland. China neither needed nor wanted little that was manufactured or grown by Europe or the United States. In order to prevent a huge balance of trade deficit, Spain began to sell opium to the Chinese. England followed in the opium trade market and soon Chinese men became drug addicts in increasing numbers. In 1839 Lin Zexu pleaded with Queen Victoria to stop the opium traffic to China, and warned: "Your Majesty has not before been thus officially notified, and you may plead ignorance of the severity of our laws. But I now give my assurance that we mean to cut this harmful drug forever" Europe demanded more and more tea, silk, and spices, but the only thing England had to trade that the Chinese wanted was opium. A series of opium wars ensued in which kegs of opium were thrown into the sea from British ships. This eventually led to the Boxer Rebellion in which Christians and business representatives were killed or held prisoner. England, France, and the United States sent armies to the rescue, captured Beijing, and burned much of the Summer Palace.

Out of the confrontations between China and the West, which the West always won, the French, British, and the United States received land and trade concessions in Shanghai and at other ports. The British also received a 100 year lease on Hong Kong (1897-1997).

In the wake of the Occidental commercial expansion also came Christian missionaries. The main religions of China had been Buddhism and Dacism. In spite of commercial and aggressive associations, Christianity became widely accepted and churches were founded. However, some prominent Chinese, possibly influenced by, cultic doctrines, seized upon the new converts to promote their own political programs. Hong Xiuchuran, who declared himself to be the brother of Jesus, started the Taiping Rebellion which raged between 1850 and 1864. The goal of the revolution was to free women and promote the kingdom of heaven on earth. Approximately 20 million were killed in this rebellion. To put the casualties of this civil war into perspective, this would be more than twenty times that of the number of Americans who were killed in all of the following wars: Revolutionary War, War of 1812, Mexican War, Civil War, Spanish American War, World War I, World War II, Korean War, Vietnam War, Persian Gulf War. Therefore, it is understandable why even today some oriental governments are reticent to welcome Christian missions or church growth.

If the nineteenth century was traumatic and turbulent to China, the twentieth century was even worse. Greed, corruption, and foreign vested interests so weakened the rule of the Quing (Ching) Dynasty that it was unable to govern. Sun Yatsen, in the revolution of 1911-1912, overthrew the last emperor. The new George Washington of China desired to establish some form of a republican political entity. He was a professed Christian, yet he was practically deserted by the church and the governments of Europe and the United States, who waited to see if China really wanted a democratic form of government. Sun Yatsen could not wait, so he turned to Russia and the new communist regime of Lenin. In Sun's army there were two young rising stars, Chiang Kai-shek and Mao Tsetung. Chiang was sent to Moscow to be schooled as to how communism could be brought to China. However, Chiang had a Christian wife, and he himself professed to be a Christian. There was nothing in communism to Chiang but chaos and evil. Mao, possibly to please Sun, espoused communism, and China was again embroiled in a long civil war.

It appeared that the nationalist forces under Chiang Kai-shek had won, so Mao and his beaten army fled to the west. After the long march, only a few thousand survived. In 1937 the Japanese invaded China and quickly occupied Beijing and then Shanghai. At nearby Nanjing, Japanese soldiers who killed more than one hundred defenseless citizens were given prizes. When I was in Nanjing in June 1996, 1 was told the army actually killed more than 300,000 defenseless men, women, and children. While an accusing finger is pointed at the United States for dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, where an estimated 200,000 were killed (doubtless saving millions of lives by shortening the war), no one today outside of China remembers the terrible crime of the rape of Nanjing.

Chiang Kai-shek was criticized for trying to fight on two fronts. He was under pressure to join forces with the communists and fight a united war against Japan. Chiang's philosophy was: "The Japanese are a disease of the skin; communism is a disease of the heart." Mao profited from Chiang's refusal to join forces with him, or form a coalition government at the insistence of the U.S. State Department. After the Japanese surrender and the end of World War 11, the U.S. State Department was riddled with communist sympathizers and promoters like Harry Dexter White. Some of the military (like General Joe Stilwell and General George Marshall) held ill will for Chiang, so the balance of power was thrown to Mao, and the nationalist forces had to flee to Formosa (now Taiwan).

In 1950 the churches of China were confronted with a government like that of Russia hostile to all religions, and especially Christianity. In order to survive as a collective entity, many churches throughout the nation formed what is known as the "Three Self Church Alliance." The meaning of the name of the new association tried to convey that the churches in the alliance were self governing, self supporting, and self motivated. All foreign identifications or ties with Baptists, Presbyterians, Methodists, Catholics, etc., were immediately severed. Even today, the only foreign association tolerated is with the World Council of Churches which has a history of social gospel theology, as well as being infiltrated with communists or their sympathizers.

No system of political communism has survived for more than seventy years without imploding from within. In 1965 Mao found his economic policies failing, his critics increasing, and his policies of encouraging women to bear more children producing him with an additional 300 million young mouths to feed, house, and educate. He offered to resign but with Mao gone the entire government would fall. So Mao was convinced that it was a remnant of the capitalists, religionists, and counterrevolutionaries in China that were causing his problems. For the next ten years the rivers of China ran red with the blood of millions as the so-called Red Guard pillaged, murdered, raped, and burned. Even the Three Self churches were closed. Pastors and church workers were killed, sent to prison, or sent to labor camps. In talking with people throughout China, I have yet to find anyone who did not have a mother, father, brother, sister, or friend who died in the Cultural Revolution. It is probably conservative to say that at least 50 million died in this unspeakable period of hell on earth.

The Tianeman Square protests of 1989 resulted in the killing of approximately three thousand students. However, this student revolution was not just in Beijing; it was throughout most of China. It was a nationwide effort to get the government to allow graduates to open job opportunities with competitive salary offers between employee and employers. This would have been an important step toward an open market economy and the leaders vowed that what happened in Russia would not happen in China. In 1991 when I returned to China, there was a feeling among students, teachers, and Christians that the United States had failed to back them with even moral and political support. The United States had lost face.

In 1987 our national tour guide, and secretary of the China Tourist Agency, a lovely girl named Chiang, accepted the Lord Jesus Christ as her Savior after reading a presentation of the gospel from my pamphlet, "Happiness." I communicated with Chiang until Tianeman Square, but never heard from her afterward.

In 1985 1 was arrested in Guilin and our Bibles and Christian literature confiscated. I had to sign a confession that I had committed a crime before me and my tour group would be released. Those who break the law or disgrace the Communist party may be executed and their body parts sold on the international market. Communist party members and bureaucrats must save face by getting confessions. I had no conscience problem about signing the confession, because I had confessed only to distributing Christian Bibles and literature, which is against the law in China. In 1996 1 was arrested again in Forbidden City, which is just off Tianeman Square in Beijing. Again I was interrogated, my passport taken, and my hotel. room searched; but released after again signing a confession. I was not surprised that the Chinese bureaucracy demanded a written confession of wrong doings from the U.S. government in the recent incident on Hainan.

On January 14, 1996, the communist Central Committee criminalized all Christian activity outside the Three Self Church. I could not place a direct call to a church or visit a church without a government permit. The rules governing even the state controlled church in China are as follows:

1. Christian believers must fervently love the People's Republic of China, support the leadership of the Chinese Communist Party and the Peoples Government, uphold the unification of the motherland and the harmony among ethnic groups, and work steadfastly on the road of socialism.

2. Christian believers must strictly abide by all the laws, regulations, and policies of the Communist Party and the State, and strive to be patriotic and law abiding citizens.

3. Christian believers must actively work to increase the material wealth and cultivate the spiritual morals of the socialist civilization. They must comply with the government's labor codes and strive to contribute to the development of the "Four Modernizations." When scheduled religious activities are in conflict with production and work schedules, the economic activities must take priority.

4. A permit must be obtained from the county Religious Affairs Bureau in order to establish religious meeting points. No unauthorized meeting points are allowed.

5. Christian believers must actively cooperate with the government to carry out thoroughly the Party's religious policies to the letter. They shall not persuade and force others to believe in Christianity. They shall not brainwash teenagers under 18 with religious beliefs. They shall not bring children to religious activities.

6. One should see a doctor for medication when sick. Christian believers must not resort to prayer alone for healing so as not to endanger people's health and lives.

7. Christian believers shall not preach their religion outside the church buildings and specific places which have been designated for religious activities. They shall not preach itinerantly. They shall not receive self proclaimed evangelists into their homes, churches, or meeting points.

If the reader would like to meet some real first century Christians who are willing to die rather than deny Jesus Christ, attend an underground church meeting in China.

I did not return to China between 1991 and 1996 because our missionary efforts were directed to getting Bibles into Russia after the disintegration of the Soviet Union. But upon returning in 1996, the tightening of the Communist hierarchy was evident everywhere. Nevertheless, we did continue to help in the underground distribution of Bibles and other helps to the house churches and underground churches. After our July 2000 visit to China, hundreds and perhaps thousands of house churches and underground churches were raided and closed by the government. This was even reported in the secular news media.

The China of 2000 was not the China of 1980. In just 20 years cities have been rebuilt and modernized; elevated highways roar into major cities. Shanghai is building 3,000 new skyscrapers, thousands of new high rise apartments, 50 to 90 story hotels, new and modern airports, new jumbo jets, etc. Yet, communism with a capitalistic face has not brought freedom or human rights to China. In fact, the reverse is true in most cases.

Perhaps the most amazing feature of the new China is the major highway that runs from Upper Mongolia through Beijing, south to Shanghai, westward along the Yangtze through mountains, through Chungking and Tibet, skirting northern India and Afghanistan. This is one of the most modern divided highways in the world. Strangely the highway signs are both in Chinese and English. The world's largest dam, over the Yangtze at Sandouping, was about 50 percent completed when we visited the site this past year.

China is filling the world with consumer goods. The major portion of consumer goods and clothing in the United States is now made in China via American supervision with American money. It is more profitable to produce goods with 200 an hour labor than with $20 an hour labor. But what if the Chinese nationalize all industry and banking? A stock market crash that would resonate 'round the world would be heard.

The factor that motivated the opium wars with China was a balance of trade problem. China has not changed. China does not want our produce or our products. Our yearly balance trade deficit with China is now $84 billion a year. Europe, Canada, Israel, and dozens of other world nations also have a Chinese trade deficit. A large percentage of the wealth of the world is being directed into China. Most of this wealth so far is being used to move China into the 21st century as an economic power. Now, much of this wealth can be directed into the military. Hong Kong and Macaw have been returned to China; now China wants the return of Taiwan. Even newspapers in China now predict a war with the United States. China cannot match (yet) the U.S. in modern weapons and technology. For example, the U.S. has 18 times as many nuclear missiles. What China has many more times of is men. According to Revelation 9:14-16, an army of 200 million soldiers will cross the Euphrates from the East to fight at the battle of Armageddon.

According to Revelation 16:12, this gigantic army will belong to the "kings of the east" and advance over a prepared way. The way has been prepared. On April 20,2001, on a CNBC news program, Thomas Friedman, the New York Times international news analyst, stated that the real danger with which the United States will have to contend with in the future is China making an alliance with the nations of the East, which was now in progress.

According to an Associated Press news release dated April 24, 2001, China has already signed a trade alliance treaty; the Bangkok Agreement, with India, South Korea, Laos, Sri Lanka, and Bangladesh. Pakistan, Vietnam, Myanmar, and Nepal have indicated they will also sign this treaty and become part of the alliance, which would encompass over half the earth's population.

We already have the Arab alliance of nations; the revived Roman Empire of Europe; the Russian bear is growling again; and now the Kings of the East.

Panamas President Ignoring Chinese Smuggling
Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2000
Panamas President Mireya Moscoso is turning a blind eye toward smugglers bringing in illegal Chinese aliens, some of her own government officials charge.

According to the Miami Herald, members of her own government have told her that some of her government officials are allowing smugglers to bring illegal immigrants to Panama, but have been unable to get her to take steps to end the smuggling.

Even worse, honest Panamanian officials have been punished for attempting to expose the practice that is turning Panama into a stepping stone for bringing the illegal aliens to the United States.

Incredibly, Moscoso has failed to act despite dozens of videotapes made by surveillance cameras at Tocumen International Airport that show Panamanian immigration inspectors passing Chinese through checkpoints without necessary documents and, as the Herald notes, sometimes openly giving money to the inspectors.

Instead, last month she ordered the firing of airport security director Emilio Pesantes, whose department made the surveillance tapes. And civil aviation director Jaime Fábrega resigned a few days after being ordered to fire Pesantes.

Fábrega had sought to stop the smuggling traffic by having a number of doors at the airport welded shut after discovering they could be used by illegal Chinese immigrants to bypass security checks.

Panamanian officials concerned about smuggling told the Herald that between 100 and 150 mainland Chinese who fail to meet the requirements for visas bribe their way into Panama every month through Tocumen Airport.

Once inside Panama, the immigrants disappear, the officials said, presumably headed for the United States. A reporter for Taiwan's daily China Times interviewed a group of around 300 illegal Chinese immigrants being held in Tijuana, Mexico, recently and was told that 80 percent had come through Panama.

More than 40 tapes revealing suspicious incidents at the airport were turned over to immigration authorities between last November and May, but no action was taken, knowledgeable Panamanian officials told the Herald. On some of the tapes immigration inspectors can actually be seen pocketing money from arriving passengers, the officials say.

"You can't prove, from the tapes alone, that the money is a bribe or that it's being provided for an illegal visa,'' one official who has viewed some of the tapes told the Herald. "But no immigration inspector should ever be taking money at his post, not for anything. ... This place is rotten to the bottom.''

Bribery and corruption among some officials should come as no surprise to President Moscoso. Last year U.S. government electronic intercepts turned up evidence that associates of outgoing President Ernesto Pérez Balladares were selling visas.

According to the Herald, several officials, including the head of Panamanian intelligence, were fired and had their visas for travel to the United States revoked. Pérez Balladares, accused by the intelligence chief of masterminding the visa scheme, has retained U.S. attorney Gregory Craig, one of the lawyers involved in President Clinton's impeachment defense (and the man who represented Elian Gonzalezs father), to defend him in an ongoing U.S. Justice Department investigation into the smuggling.

Moreover, there is evidence of widespread use of areas in Central America and the Caribbean as way stations for smuggling Chinese aliens into the United States.

As reported previously in, in less than one week, 75 Chinese nationals illegally entered the tiny islands of St. Thomas and St. John in the U.S. Virgin Islands.

Police on St. Thomas apprehended 30 Chinese immigrants in one day, and two days before, 45 Chinese nationals were arrested on St. John. Although these numbers may seem relatively low, for the tiny American islands in the Caribbean, they are a big deal.

According to statistics from the Immigration and Naturalization Service's office in San Juan, Puerto Rico, only 16 Chinese nationals were taken into custody on St. Thomas in 1997. The following year, that number increased to 71. Last year, the number skyrocketed to 347, and through only June of this year, the number of illegal Chinese coming into St. Thomas reached 180.

According to one eyewitness on the islands, there is a Chinese invasion taking place against the United States, and it's happening in his own backyard.

In another story, we reported that a gang of Chinese smugglers bringing illegal aliens into the United States using false passports were arrested by the U.S. Immigration and Naturalization Service after an eight-month-long undercover operation during which INS agents infiltrated and virtually took over the operation.

According to James Goldman, assistant director of the INS' Miami district, undercover agents in Miami, Jamaica, the Dominican Republic, Haiti, Hong Kong and New York infiltrated the smuggling ring by posing as people on the lookout for opportunities in the smuggling trade.

Their operation began eight months ago, after the INS became suspicious about the large number of Chinese citizens coming through Miamis International Airport from Caribbean nations. Goldman said that agents had detained 653 Chinese in the past 18 months.
